    Weird Rear end Noise

It's coming from the driver side when making right turns, the faster, the more pronounced the noise becomes. I could also hear it while driving over rough surfaces. Sometimes occurs as Im exiting freeways (declined exit). It is progressively getting worst.

The sound itself resembles something hoping up and down and it's only coming from one side. Rear shock mount were replaced but slight hints of the noise were present before I revamped the rear suspension, including shocks, springs, and bushings.

What could be the cause of this? Perhaps a sign of a bearing on its last feet? Something is obviously loose or about to give way.

Sounds like it could be a bad CV joint.

Sounds more like it's loose than bad.

i had a noise like this that's been plaguing me for some time - and i've decided its my poor-shape exhaust hangers allowing the muffler tips to bang against the valance on right turns and over bumps.

try having a friend kick the exhaust around a bit while you're in the car, see if it's the same noise.

I'll probably start by replacing the cv joints since its an easier and less expensive. I did find a parts car locally, but need to remove the parts myself. Would someone be kind enough to explain what I need (inner/outer) and how to go about removing them myself. TIA.

I don't think it's an easy job at all, but you are a california car, so rust shouldn't be a problem. us northeasters have a problem with that stuff.

Good luck, I've had a strange sound coming from the back similar the one you're having for a while now. I've just been ignoring it since I only hear it when I hit a hard bump in the road.

the sound is like a thump, knock, or rattle related to metal beating on the body.
anyone that has this issue and hasnt paid much attention to the shock mounts needs to take a close look.

even if the rubber mount seems tight, the shock will stress the shape of the rubber mount point and slap the metal washer against the mount on rebound whenever the suspension moves. thus resulting in a beating or rattle noise, depending on road conditions.

very common issue that ive seen a number of times.
your fix, get new rear shock mounts. period

It's a rattle more than anything else. I'll definitely take a look at the rsm. Thanks for the input!

sounds like the same problem i have. I just ignore it. The RSMs were replaced not too long ago, so i doubt that it is those. Let us know.
