    Rear hubs and bearings

Is there a reason why rear hubs don't come with bearings like the front hubs ? Should one replace the hubs while replacing the bearings or do they not wear ?

    Thanks!

In the front, the bearings are in the hubs. In the back, the bearings are in the trailing arms. That is why the rear hubs don't come with bearings. The rear bearings have to be pulled/pressed out/in.

Also, no, the rear hubs should not wear. Unless you crossthread a lug bolt/stud into it, or it gets damaged. You shouldn't need to replace them unless they are damaged, which you would know by problems installing a wheel.

I am putting new rear hub flanges in to swap to e30 m3 brakes. Besides the brakes (3 main peices), the hub flange is the only diff part. So if you are looking to do 5 lug, thats a good time to look at your possibilities.

Good luck! Are you doing it yourself or taking it to a shop? Rear bearings have a harsh reputation of not coming in/out easy as they have to be pressed. Thats why I ask. :)

Thanks guys! Trailing arms are out of the car, I am just doing a drum to disk swap and figured might as well get new bearings on there while they are out of the car. I'll have a shop pull/press them in though :)
