I did this a few weeks ago, was a direct swap. I swapped complete 325i trailing arms with parking brake cables and got new soft lines (4 of them), rotors and pads. From what I gathered 318i and 325e/i (early non abs master cylinders) are not the same, so I ordered and have a new ATE brake master cylinder that I still need to install.

Brakes are working fine, although I am not 100% sure right now if it's my left rear/front locking up first under heavy braking. I plan to test a few more times, then swap to 325i/e MC and see what happens then.

If you are the sort of chap who likes a firmer feel, you could do a 750i MC instead.

No better stopping power, just a firmer feel.

iirc all 7xx MC's are abs units.

                  Ah...I chee.

I assume you could do a "T" fitting to bypass the ABS ports...but sounds like a bunch of hassle just to get a bit more feel.

Oh well. Though I would offer an idea.
