ABS sensor ground?

just wondering if the ABS sensor grounds itself on the hub assembly? i had painted my strut/hub assembly when i dissasebled for my C/O setup, and recently the ABS light has been coming on the dash. so i took them off, sanded down the hub area that had paint, sanded the ABS sensor clean, then reinstalled and now the light hasnt come on YET. was it the ground?

I believe they are. They should get a 12V feed, ground to the housing, and then send a square wave signal to the ABS computer on the other wire.
