Urethane trailing arm bushings - install

Is there a particular orientation as to what direction they need to be installed in the arms? There's a "fat" end and a "skinny" end on all four bushings, as it stands right now I have the "fat" end facing away from the inside of the arm and the skinny sides facing on the inside. Here's a pic:

Is this right? Also, is there an orientation for the pass through bolts (nut on one side, head on the other)? And can I reuse the nuts, or should I replace them?

    Thanks!

Shit! I just noiticed the difference while i was burning out the old rubber bushings on my trailing arm. Yep it was skinny on the inside and fat on the outside. I would use new bolts/nuts. I hear you're supposed to torque the arms to spec with the the car's weight on them.

Edit: I just seen you other thread, its cool because im doing my own subframe overhaul as well. Take care of the rear end once and for all. Good work!

Hope this is right - I remember reading something different in the Bentley, but I'm away from it right now. Something about the "fatter" side facing outboard, and the skinny side facing in...maybe that's why the wheels are rubbing?

I just ordered a set today. I have no idea how I'm going to get the TA up on an arbor press.

I didn't need a press for my AKG bushings....?

Though the first set I got from AKG was red, this set I just got was black and the sleeve inserts feel much looser. We'll see what happens.

The fun part is trying to use a press for the in and outs of wheel bearings - what a pain in the ass!

I let a kid at work borrow my Bentley and now I need it. The thick end of the bushings face away from each other right? That is, the thick end faces the tire and the diff? The thin ends are "inside" the trailing arm?

The fat end faces out on the outside arm, and the fat end faces in towards the center of the car on the inside one. Like this if you were looking from the rear of the car: Left side [---- ----] center of car [---- ----] Right side
