Suspension squeaking post ST sway bars install

I am getting squeaking noises from my suspension after installing a set of ST 22/19 sways.

Is this normal? What can I do to banish the noise, its getting rather annoying...

did you also install polyurethane bushings too? if so then that might be the cause of the noise. try wrapping the part of the bar that meets the bushing with teflon tape.

Definitely need to wrap the bar in teflon tape.

a lil lithium grease around the bar where the mount sits works too if you have that handy

The only thing I found that actually stayed working after more than 10 years of Urethane sway bar bushings was "Marine Grade Boat Trailer Grease", available at any boat supply store. Nasty sticky shit, wear gloves when applying.

You will want to pull the bushing completely out so you can grease the entire area where the bushing meets the bar.

my ST bars came with a grease that lasted fine since I installed them about 10mos ago. However, I changed my rear mounts to the IE aluminum ones and forgot to regrease; they're squeaking and groaning. The grease that came with the kit was kinda like the jelly grease you can get in little packets at the counter at advance or autozone labeled "caliper grease".

I'm going to look for that boat stuff, Luke - does it come in small quantities? I don't need a whole bucket.

Generally you are supposed to use silicone grease as petroleum based products will deteriorate the urethane.

I have never heard that...but in doing a quick search outside of R3V, I found several links to other forums that talk about exactly that...no dinosaur grease!

Seems this stuff is highly recommended: http://www.super-lube.com/

I ran Energy urethane bushings for over 10 years on my little monster Turbo Sunbird using boat trailer grease, and when I parted that poor pile of crap out, the sway bar bushings looked new still.

I dunno, but I am willing to try the Super Lube. Hopefully, it works with PNW rain...

I got a little tub of some silicone grease from my local auto parts store. Not sure what brand it was...
