    Installing rear axle, got questions

    http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...70&hg=33&fg=25

#2 and #3. The "reinforcements" and bolts.

    1. Do I need the reinforements? as I dont have them now.
    2. The bolts, are they something I can get at the hardware store?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    James

The reinforcemnets are basically the washers for the bolts ..but ther are made for 2 bolts at once and distribute the clamping force .

You could probably round up the bolts at a hardware store if you know the thread pitch ...they are also allen head bolts .

Really you should be able to gett all mounting hardware you need from your local dealer for relatively cheap , or even used off the forums .

I wouldn't buy those bolts from your local hardware store. Very few (at least in my area) stores have any decent selection of metric bolts. Also, they need to be either allen or torx bolts.

And yes, I would run those washer things.
Also, make sure to locktite and torque those axle bolts.
