What are the R4'S?

R4's (not to be confused with R4S's which are street pads) are one of Porterfields track pad compounds. They have got to be the best beginner to advanced intermediate track pad available I swear. Very easy on rotors, work hot or cold or luke warm, wear very well, can be used pretty hard without ducting, dusting and squealing but it's non corrosive....it just doesn't get better at this level. They even work pretty well for heavier cars though they do wear more in this case. Very predictable, very easy to modulate.

This was the first track pad I ever ran, used them on my iX way back in 1999. I was lazy after the school and left them on the car. Drove them for over a year on the street including through winter, both front and rear. They wore out in that year of course but the dust came off the wheels 99%.

I cannot recommend them enough. With stock braking systems they are an excellent rear pad for use with Blues and HT10's in the front on E30's.
