Mounting master cyl with NO brake booster

I need to run my brakes without my brake booster for clearance in the engine bay. If I bolt my stock master cylinder to the firewall, how should I attach the pedal to the master?

I know some of you have done this, so I just need help on this one issue.

    Thanks,

    Erik

Check the 24v forum under the thread, something along the lines of, euro intake and brake booster. There are a few different ways to do it.

I've been following that thread, and even bought the dual master cylinder setup from Mike B in order to run without a booster, but even though it clears the Euro intake, it does not clear my big carbon intake plenum. I need to run the stock master cylinder bolted to the firewall.

Trent, if you are still around, can you share what you did?

Were you finally able to adapt my bracket to fit the carbon plenum? If not, I have a solution for the stock master cylinder mounting without a booster.

I would not mount it directly to the firewall unless you have a pretty beefy gusset to strengthen the sheetmetal. You'll want to move the pedal pickup point about 1" upwards and move the MC the same amount. then you just need to fabricate a rod with a clevis on one end and the pushrod for the master on the other.

Trent said that his pedal was still a bit too stiff. I would experiment with smaller master cylinders to get the effort just right.

Why not run a hydraulic booster from an E23?

Yes, I'm almost done. I've got it so it doesn't contact, but it's really close so I still need to work on it a little more so it won't touch when the engine leans to the side.

              What was your solution though?

5"x5"x1/4" aluminum mounting plate with studs for mounting the M/C and the bracket to the firewall.

The M/C is raised 1" along with adapting the pedal cluster pickup point. Moving the pickup point up 1" changes the pedal ratio from 4:1 to 6:1.

I found a rod that will fit the ID of the M/C pushrod and it can be threaded for a clevis on the other end to attach to the brake pedal.

Very similar to the setup found at Muzzi Motorsports.

Where did you find the rod from? I'm getting ready to do something similar for my ITB setup

I source my 4130 alloy rods from a company on the web and turn them down to the appropriate diameter on my lathe.

ok thanks, thought maybe you found a ready made solution that would work
