They really are. They went above and beyond, hot tanking the entire subframe (TAs included) and all the dirty parts before beginning work, replacing my cracked CV boots and applying a ruberized, rustproof coating to the subframe (all at no additional charge) Seriously I couldn't be happer.Comment

I have this mod slated next on the list.
Having bought IE's stuff before, ive been dissapointed about one thing or another every time so I'm going to skip the kit this time around and fab my own.
I have the equipment and material to turn out a LOT of kits in no time at literaly 0 cost. Its of course for the DIY'er to weld in themselves.
I'm making no promises at this time but it is something that will be accomplished by the end of June, no doubt.Comment

Wow. I was going to say the same thing, if that was "on the car" $330 is AMAZING.FYI I just had the IE kit welded in, new TA bushings and new subframe bushings installed and sway bar reinforcements welded on for about $330. It was done by a shop that specializes in older BMW's though, so they knew exactly what they were doing and had put these kits in many times before.
Does this price include the bushings and all that?
This is what I'm going to do.
$60 Subframe
$150 Toe/Camber kit
$250 Urethane RTABs and RSBs.
$??? Welding Labor to German Speed Merchants. They know what they are doing too, they build race cars and all that. (shouldn't cost more than $100?)
Now, this is a significant pain in the ass to drop the subframe and all that, but I'm doing it anyways. Cheaper that way, plus I have the CORRECT tools to do all the bushings.
P.S. Just in case you guys were worried about IE's customer service, BimmerWorld also stocks this kit. A couple dollars cheaper, IIRC. I don't know if they get their stuff from IE, or vice versa, but I figured I would let you guys know.Slicktop City!Comment

If you can find someone who will do all of that work for $100, please let me know, I will take a dozen! :D
No one I have called will give me an estimate on doing just that, and any bmw/race car shop would only do it if I was having them build a cage at the same time. The welding work is simple enough, it's the slotting stuff that is a PITA. However anyone could get the tabs welded on and use a rat tail file if they had a weekend to spare.

My DHL account, with guessed dimensions of 40lbs, 66in X 10in X 12in gives a quote of $30.67 from Las Vegas to Omaha.Comment

I just bought a modified subframe from a guy off of e30 tech LINK.. it was only $22 in shipping.
They aren't that heavy at all, just long.Build : Das Drehmoment UngeheuerComment

Yep, the highest quote I got was $30.
I have found a place that will do the machine work on the tabs reasonably cheap, but as with all things cheap, it's not going to be their highest priority and will take a little time. You should have your car ready to roll by now anyway it's summer right? Should have some of these ready by the end of summer at the latest, just in time for post-season tear downs. :)

No, sorry. Didn't ever find someone to make the brackets at a reasonable price/quantity. Not worth the time and effort to lose money on these.Last edited by AlarmedBread; 01-24-2009, 08:35 PM.

Bimmerworld sells them too. As already said, if you have the tools to install the brackets, you have the tools to make them too.
