    Changing Pads and Rotors

As the title says, I'm changing my pads and rotors after finals and the SAE competition are over. I was looking through the Bentley and saw that it recommends that you replace the caliper locking nut/bolt when you put new pads in. Is it safe to reuse these fasteners? I've done brake jobs before, but on other cars without said locking shenanigans.

Also, does anyone know the part number/price of the bolt/nut or if it's commonly available from Home Depot or the like?

Finally, when you put new rotors on, do you need new set screws for each rotor or can they be reused safely?

    Thanks in advance!

I've always reused everything without issue. Although I do use blue locktite on my brake fasteners now. I did see that the bentley recomended replacement of the rotor set screw the last time I did the job (two weeks ago) and it made me say "wtf". I would guess thats because they get rounded off with repeated use and then you have to grind them off.

What fastener are you talking about when you say Caliper locking nut? I cant visualize what this is. Is it the bolts that hold the caliper to the bracket?

Probably a good idea to replace these things but not crucial.

How are you using this car? Is this a beater or track car?

I would highly recommend using loctite on the caliper bracket bolts. Mine came loose to the point the brakes were clunking when I het the pedal

I looked back at the Bentley and it was talking about the locking bolt that goes in the caliper slider bolt on the fronts. I am using this car as mainly an autocross/fun weekend car.

        Thanks for the input!

Wow that's pretty loose. Did you torque them to the right value or did they just work themselves loose?
