    Which cars came with Ate/Girling

Which cars came with Ate calipers and which cars came with Girling calipers?

I know I should pay attention once in a while, but, I have not been.

    any ideas?

I have Girlings on the 325i front strut ass'y w/brakes to upgrade on my small diam 318i fronts. IIRC they where an 87 MY as well.

Oddly enough I also have a 318i with front strut assemblies and brakes from an '89 325iS, my calipers were also Girling.

Based on casual observations I don't know that one can state what cars either variant will be equipped with. My 87325is has ATE, but I've seen another 87 with Girling, and in a like manner I've seen later production 325i's (of the same vintage) with either. It seems rather like random use of what ever was in stock at the time of production. And the fact that the ETK will show both variants on a VIN lookup tends to suggest that either may have been used.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

2 Factories in Germany were releasing e30's. All of them had Ate's in the rear (except 318's with drums). The front depends on the factory. Along with front calipers, the master cylinder is also Girling or ATE. E36's moved on to only ATE's.

Personally I never noticed any difference in breaking between the 2. The only horrible package was the Girling 84-85 325e's with out ABS, they just love locking up whenever they feel like.

That comment made me go do a double check at what came off the car. The fronts are in fact Girling and the rears are ATE.

                    WTF

Either way, it has new bigger stuff mounted up now :p
