    Irritating brake squealing

This is driving me nuts!!! When i'm rolling about 30-40mph, I get this low pitched squealing noise in the front that goes away if I turn or tap the brakes. It's only really audible at that speed. The car still brakes good and the pads up front don't have any uneven wear, but that low squeal is driving me nuts. Any advice would be really appreciated.

    Check your wheel bearings.

Also check your ebrake, I just had this on a customers M3 and it was the friction material de-laminating from the shoe and vibrating against the rotor.

I checked all around for any loose play on the tires but didn't have any. I will be checking the rear e-brake and see this weekend. On your customer's M3, did the e-brake stick after releasing it? Mine you can feel the pads release when I start moving the car.

No, it functioned normally, it was just falling apart inside and vibrating. Squeaked like a bastard.

I checked the backs and they seem fine but will need a change soon. Cleaned them out and took it for a spin and heard it again. This time I was able to pinpoint it to the front passenger brake. Thanks for the help man.

elsabor67 What did you have to end up replacing to get the squeal to go away. I have the same thing going on and it's driving me nuts too.

If not the bearing on that wheel, the cause of the squeal will be a sticking caliper that isn't fully releasing.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.
