ABS sensors swappable?

Does anyone know if the sensor from the left side is swappable with the sensor from the right?

In the rear ... yes.

In the front ... no.

That is what I think based on looking at the sensors I currently have off of the car (89 325i).

Its different based on years as well I'm finding out. Each side of the car is different from the other.
