Clicking from dash when pushing on my brake??

hey,
driving to work this morning, I noticed that when I press on the brake, i hear a small click sound coming from the dash, as if i flicked my turn signal? seems like it clicks once i release the brake, too...
has this happened to anyone, any idea what or why this is happening?

you are hearing a relay click most likely.

is it going to affect anything? and is it something I can just ask my mech. to fix fairly easily - expensive at all?

That click could be from the brake switch. Or it could be from something cracked in the brake pedal assembly. If it is the switch, it can be ignored, but if something is failing... Best to get under there and find out where the noise is coming from.

You can ask your mechanic to replace all the mechanic relays or switches to microswitches or electronic relay circuits.

just an update -

got in my car for lunch, even if the key isnt in the ignition, and i push the brake, i hear the click, also when i release...
is this the relay?
