    Weak brakes

I was wondering before i go trouble shooting the problem if any of you guys have had a problem with the brakes when you push in the brake pedal and you get no response from the brakes only until it is practically to the floor.

Im thinking its the booster but not sure.

    Thanks in advance

It sounds like you probably have a lot of air in the lines and need to bleed the brakes. Does your brake fluid level stay constant in the reservoir or do you have to keep adding fluid?

A dead booster usually yields a very stiff pedal that takes a lot of effort to stop the car.

yes when was the last time you flushed your brakes out...or even looked at your pads and rotors? I wouldnt even consider just bleeding the system. Id flush it out with all new fluid. Think about changing the lines as well..very old lines tend to crack inside and swell up, causing a mushy pedal or even the line to burst.

Im surprised how people let that simple maintenance go by very easily. I just did mine cuse it was black, flushed it out really good and my brakes are awesome noe.

Master cylinder is bypassing, its shot. Replace. And flush the brake system out.

We have a winner! Master cylinder. A weak or non functioning booster won't have symptoms like that, and a lot of air in the system wouldn't really have the same symptoms either unless you drained a bunch of the fluid out too. The good news is that a master cylinder is a whole lot cheaper than a new booster.

I just got the car so the previous owner was an asshat and didnt maintain shit. But My fluid stays the same so im not leaking any fluid. Im going have to check the master cylinder.
thanks guys for the input ill keep ya updated to see if the master cylinder is the problem.

Oh yeah while im at it is the brake fluid DOT 3 Or DOT 4?
