I just want some feedback on brakes. my usual consultant rede30 isnt available (out of country no internet) so here goes. if i'm replacing my brake rotors should i replace all around or is it safe to replace just the fronts? (mind you my rears are only a year old) my front ones got damaged and need replacing. also, any suggestions on decent brake rotors? i'm thinking either meyle or balo.

I've never heard of a need to do all four at once.
Brembo blanks seem to work fine. Many different opinions and such on pads, so if you're interested you can spend all the time in the world reading. Or you can just grab oe replacements.Originally posted by z31maniacI just hate everyone.

I went with hawk hp + on the rear of my old honda. From what I read they were pretty well reviewed. There are seriously so many options and opinions though in the end I had to ask myself what the real difference would be for me driving my car in day in and day out. Also, I couldn't really tell since they were just on the back. Obviously better than dieing oe replacements.
I spent 150 just doing my back... and that was for a honda accord. 30 a blank rotor and 60 for the pads. OE replacement pads were 30 for the honda. Just to give you an idea, 160 seems like a good estimate for just the front. Or go to a local cheap place like napa or something then it's a fair estimate.Originally posted by z31maniacI just hate everyone.

Don't turn new rotors either. If this was a race car, ideally you want to break them in with some cheap pads until they discolor and then go back to good stuff but it's completely unnecessary for you. Just don't forget to clean the braking surface with brake cleaner before installing - they're coated with rust inhibitor grease.

Many brand new rotors are not perfectly true out of the box, Even Brembo blanks. And there is nothing wrong with turning brand new rotors, Unless you are a moron and fuck them up(which you can easily do).
Most people recommend the Brembo blanks as they are a higher quality/much harder carbon steel.
And I did say right at the beginning that you don't have/need to turn the rotors, I do because I have full access 24/7 to a machine shop 10 minutes from my house. I have done it to multiple sets of rotors and they wear fine and are nice and smooth.
