    Thoughts on ABS re-install...?

So at the end of last season my ABS pump shit the bed and started not releasing. I knew something was wrong when I was experiencing fade on my daily commute... I pulled my pump and replaced the stock pressure limiter with an adjustable proportioning valve and everything was been hunky dory for awhile.

And then I went bigger. My new Massive street kit is AWESOME but I can lock up pretty easily. I'm only on 205 all-seasons now and I know things will be different with my summer Azenis and whatever else I end up using for track/auto-x but I just wanted to get some thoughts from people here with and without ABS. The ABS on my IX works wonderfully and has made me think I might want to re-install it on my s50 car as well but I think a lot of the track guys would vote otherwise. Opinions?

I tracked my car a decent amount and I would keep the abs. The track I have been running at is small with one straight away and alot of turns. Its alot of on and off the brakes.

If it was me I would keep the abs unit and if you use the car for street use then you should really keep it. Nothing worse then when you lock up your brakes going into heavy traffic.

I'd recommend having the ABS. I'd run both ways on the track and while there's a slight advantage to not having ABS, that's outweighed by the risk of flat spotting a tire in threshold braking. And in less than ideal conditions, ABS is a big win.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

if you could adjust the pressure to keep them from locking up i would think that would be better. also there should be brake modulation by the driver instead of relying on the safety mechs to keep your car strait. abs is really for the unexperienced undiciplined driver in panic situations or in slippery surfaces where you shouldnt be driving fast anyways. I had a gmc syclone and taking the abs was one of the first things i changed on it. the truck stopped faster and straiter with it out. just my two cents
why does it have to be a "dead end"? why not just "end"?

Well another option is to re-install a pump, wheel sensors and brain and have it switchable from inside the cockpit so I could switch it off for track reasons.

ABS is a good thing... Even the early generation ABS like on our old cars.

Unless of course you are a "drifter" and into shredding tyres for fun.

my abs hasn't worked as long as i've owned the car. I would like to have it as a safety net but i have a lot of parts to replace and other issues to address first.
