Bilstein Rear shock bushing/sleave too long?

    Hi All,

I was putting new bilstein BNE-1981 (touring class) rear shocks on my ix and the bushing (aluminum sleeve) that the bolt goes through is longer than the original and makes it impossible to tourque the bolt all the way.

Can I cut it down? Why is this?

I've attached a picture to help explain.

    Craig,

Don't cut it down. They look to be the same width. I think you just need to make sure you are lining things up correctly.
