Strut tube Diameter

I searched but didn't find.

I know there are 2 different strut tubes what are the diameter dimensions and for what applications are they?

What year/model car do you have? Most have 51mm, but my 1984 318i has 45mm. Most are 51mm, unless you have a realy early 318 or maybe a early ETA.

I have an 88 and 89 iS and a 91 iC.

My question was what are the specs and apps. Okay so one is 51mm.

And a new Q? are the nuts different one ID and one OD?

Actually there are 3 diameters, but for most purposes the 50.5mm and the 51mm are considered the same.

The other diameter is 45mm, which is on four cylinder e30, except for 318is. This is similar to the e21, where the 4 cylinders got 45mm tubes (all USA models) but the 6 cylinders (323 in Europe) got 51 mm struts.

Very cool thing to find if you have a 320i.

I am pretty sure they are exactly the same at the top, meaning same threads and everything.
