what is needed to install lowering springs?

One of my friends just picked up some springs for his 90' 318 and he wants to install them, but he doesnt know how, i know you need a spring compressor and an air impact wrench but what else needs to be done, does any one know of an article on how to do it so i can give it to my friend?

I just jumped in there when I did my suspension. No prior knowledge. a air wrench will save alot of time. you'll also need a torque wrench, monkey wrench and common household tools.

Wear some steel cap boots too if you're as clumsy as me. I dropped a 20kg strut assembly on my foot at work and put a big fucking dent in one of my boots, lucky i was wearing them or i would have mashed some toes

Some tips on installing the REAR springs/ shocks while still fresh in my mind:

                    - I used the Pelican article and the Bentley as guides.
                    - I did not need to lower the exhaust - I pulled the left spring out from the wheel side.
                    - You will have to remove the wheels unless you have a very tall jack.
                    - I reinstalled the dirt shields from the old shocks so the new shocks aren't exposed to the elements.
                    - All bolts are either 13, 17, or 19 mm.
                    - You will need a 19mm (or big adjustable) wrench to get the diff mount bolt out.
                    - I had to put some wood under the rear wheels when lowering back down. If you dont, you cant get your jack out!

You can get away without touching the differential too. Usually, your first time is the longest and "trickiest" after that, it should NOT be a challenge again.
