I know a lot of E36 guys do the E46 rack swap so it should be pretty straight forward in an E30.

I fitted an e46 M3 rack to my e30 race car. Fit is identical to the e36 rack.

Although I did things differently to most. I moved the rack all the way up to the top of the mounting holes and used the spacer under it, or in my case heated and bent the tabs narrower.

Then again. I did this all for steering geometry improvements.

Anyone yet? Maybe ill be the first to try it, trying to find a z3 rack locally is turning out to be hella time.

I raised the steering rack to help eliminate bump steer, I've done exactly the same thing on my road car too. No hassles.

I have e46 rack in my e30, it's the exact same process as a e36 steering swap, you use the swap kit sold here. Handles and feels great in comparison to e30 rack.

any additional experiences with this? seems like a cheaper option for a 3.0 lock to lock rack, z3 is pretty pricey.

So anyone successfully install e46 rack without any modification? I have a e46 m3 rack in the garage, and was thinking about installing it if it was a direct bolt on.

yep it works but you need the 14mm spacers like the e36 rack

I bolted in a late model 330 rack with no modifications into my early model e30. Inner and outer e30 tie rods and those spacers for the subframe mounting as its bigger on the e30.

M20 high pressure hose, my e30 low pressure hoses fit fine as do e36 I believe. That is with the PS res on the motor mount arm of my s52.
