22mm 325iS bar for automatics

Does anyone know off hand if this is true? I have an 1989 325IS - I'll measure this weekend but I think the cabrio front bar I bought (21mm) looked bigger.

I'm pretty sure that the front bar on a 325is is smaller than 22mm. I can measure the bars this evening.

Cabrio is the biggest front bar at 21mm.

auto IS did come with 22mm, girlfriends car has it on. I was planning to take hears until I got IE 25mm.

explain this. Do you actually have proven data that supports this claim? It makes no sense why an auto would have a pigger sway bar than a manual. The added weight of the auto tranny wouldnt effect the cornering of the car because the weight is centered on the car.

If this is true, awesome. If not then we all need to have this info.

M-tech's and Cabrio's got 21 MM bars these are the biggest bars I have seen as have normally all other E30 enthusiasts.

Lets see the facts to prove the existance of 22 mm auto bar.

This is false... i JUST went out and measured my front sway (car is an 89 IS -formerly auto) and it was only 20mm.

Yeah, '87 325i's had 22mm front bars too. Mine's got one.

I mean it didn't come from the factory with one, but then again neither did any other E30.

According to what I see on realoem.com all 325i/is models came with a 20mm front sway bar. A 325ic came with a 21mm front sway.

FWIW mine measures out at 19, while my cabrio bar was 21

I had caliper on it measuring it. Hers is 91 325iS auto.

you are either reading it wrong or you are not taking into consideration the thickness of a layer of paint.

The only bars that came on iS models were 20mm. The largest bar made from the dealer was the 21mm cabrio bar. There is no reason at all for an auto iS to have a bigger bar.

Cool! let's add some understeer on our cars by putting only a bigger front bar and not a rear one! Am I the only one who has substantial understeer? While were at it let's run stagered tires and make the car plow some more. This seems like one of those m30 afm bigger is better things.
