95 m3 steering rack

i found a 95 m3 with 160k miles that he is parting out. he said he would sell me the steering rack for 200. my question is.. is there any labels on the rack to confirm it is from a 95 model m3.. also is there a way to see visibly if this is a leaky steering rack before i put it in and find out later?

The part number should be the one in the picture below. Also, the 95 m3 rack is painted grey where the regular e36 racks are a lighter silver I believe.
