    Steering linkage nut question

So i replaced my steering rack this weekend, but during the process the linkage under the dash became disconneted from the wheel.

I put it back together, but I am not sure how to tighten the big nut that holds the two together.

It seems either way I turn the nut, it doesnt tighten.

Should I be moving the nut towards the firewall or towards the steering wheel to tighten?

you need to make sure that the nut is fuly extended on the shaft. This nut slides on that shaft a bit. If its not all the way down then it wont catch the first thread.

And for the record you need to be tightening toward the firewall so if you are looking at the firewall from the steering wheel you need to be spinning the clockwise or spin the nut toward the center console

hmm thanks for the response.. I guess I will keep turning the nut clockwise toward the firewall then.

just make 100% sure the nut is flat and is extended all the way down
