    Cutting rear springs?

I'm going to cut my springs and want to know what needs to be done in the rear to make them work because of the shape. DO NOT post any responses on your opinions of cut springs, I don't care. Only respond if you can give advice on how to successfully cut the rear springs and make them work.

    Cutting springs is stupid.

No one is going to tell you how to do it cause you can't. Not with out having springs floating around in there.

If you cut the rear springs you will have to come up with some way of keeping them centered on the perches. At the least that will be some sort of donut glued to the spring pads. I don't remember if the major coil diameter of the rear springs is too large for the perches. But if that's the case you will have to fab up larger perches.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

this sounds stupid but how about a hockey puck with the center drilled out so it fits over the nipple of the control arm.

if you do it post up pics.

Ask this guy, he did it.

Ive heard there are some rubber pads that can be removed to lower the front and rear. I think one is like 10mm and the other is 3? Not sure never removed them. I considered cutting my springs but decided to do it the right way. I am sick of doing shit on the cheap and paying for it later. I have cut many springs before and the only issue Ive had is one set started sagging after like 4 years, but after 4 years my cheap ass should have done it right by then. Look in the classifieds for used springs, they are cheaper than new and would perform better too. You may even luck out and find someone with just the rears for sale. Its possible, I actually have a set of rear neuspeed springs for a golf/jetta.
