Rogue Engineering Upper Shock Mounts

I bought some from a friend who had them on his e36. I put them on my girlfriends' e30 but I noticed that the reinforcement pieces didn't fit on there correctly/flush. It's a complete diamond/oval piece, where as the ground control reinforcement pieces are only semi-diamond/ovals. Is the e36 upper shock mount reinforcement not compatible with the e30s?

I have similar RSM's, and I just took a dremel to them to open up one side. Not quite as stiff any more, but it's a big, glorified washer, so I don't think it'll be an issue.
