Remove the pinch bolts on both ends of the coupler. Then dismount the rack and slide it forward enough for the rack to disengage from the coupler. Finish by pulling the coupler off the column.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

10-4. I figured it would suck to replace. That rubber bushing is gone. Do I just grind off the old hardware and replace with new bolts?
      thnx

That bushing does not fit! It is a mistake on their website. Notice it does not list the e30. I destroyed a steering coupler before I found out the the holes did not line up.
what you did to this car is like getting a supermodel naked and willing to do anything you please. now here you are faced with ths once in a lifetime opportunity and then you squander it by making her fuck you in the butt with a 24" strap on. you are a sad, silly little boy.

          thnx bro,
I just ordered the stock rubber bushing. Don't want to have to screw around with the IE one not fitting.

If you drop the steering rack it will make for some extra room and space depending on your attack. Taking it out isn't very difficult, but it is more of a task to align the center notches. G/L

so how hard or easy was this?

If I think I need a new steering rack should I just wait to get my new one and THEN do this?
