    Spring problems!!!!

okay so i spent a week searching threads on this site & other sites about springs for the 318i vs 325iS. i gathered that there would not be a huge difference from reading the posts.....well i was wrong. i installed the whole suspension out of a 325iS into my 318i ('84) and now it sits like 4" higher!!!! i can easily put mud tires on it and run it off road, haha.

does this seem right to anyone else?
will the old 318 springs (small diameter strut) fit on the 325iS strut?
are there different bilstiens with different amounts of travel for the 325vs the 318?

    any suggestions?

Wait, is it a early model 318?

I think its aftermarket suspensions people were talking about because interchanging that into a lighter car would just make the car not as low as the advertised drop but putting a stock suspension into a car that is lighter is sure to skyjack it.

What are you trying to do, refresh your suspension?

yup i was trying to refresh my suspension. the 325 car had bilsiens and iS springs, so i figured it would give me a nice sport feel, haha, nope.

i think am just going to throw the 318 spring back on the bilstiens for now & pick up a set of drop springs.

That's what I did with my 318is, FK drop springs and now Bilsteins. Would highly recommend this upgrade. The springs are like $188 and they make the car look great. Factory springs are good but if you really wanna make your car feel better lower it a bit and get some sport springs. You will be amazed on the difference.

sweet thanks. it seems like most springs are set up for the 325's so i appriciate the input on 318 springs.
