    318is Springs on 325?

Ran a few searches, but came up with only ppl swapping 325 type springs to 318is.

What would be the result of running '91 318is springs on an '87 325? Looking for just a subtle drop with not any real change in handling characteristics. The car is for the wife and I still have my old 318is springs lying around... Thanks for any help.

    They're stock springs?

    I don't think they'll be any different.

Really? Spring ratings wouldn't be any different between the two? Wouldn't the 318is springs be rated to carry less weight (especially up front) and therefore drop the car quarter inch or so?

If they dropped it I wouldn't be terribly surprised, but I don't think it will be very noticeable at all.

Maybe if they were off of a early model 318i, you might see a noticeable drop. But the late model 318 wasnt much lighter than the m20b25 variant.

Would the part # be the same?

No, OE part numbers are different.

Well, the other option then is to cut a coil off the stock 325 springs, but that would lower it significantly wouldn't it?

Probably. You won't see much drop witht he 318is springs, especially considering that M3 springs only drop the car an inch, max.
