I bought some back in September when I got the Bilsteins, and they're already shot. The bearings in them are binding so much that my steering rack won't even return to the center position while I'm driving. 4,000 miles and I'm already going to have to replace them.

Bearing grease.
I use redline synthetic.
pop off the dust covers, slather it in there with your finger, move it around and force it between the ball bearings. do this from both top and bottom. more = better
If they came un-packed like I think, they will be smooth since all the bb's are smooth and there is no wear on them.Below the radar...
