    drilled shock towers for camber?

On cheap autocross beaters of different marques, you often see where guys have spun the upper strut mount 180 degrees and re-drilled the holes in the sheetmetal to move the strut top inboard by half an inch or so. Gives you maybe a degree or so of neg camber for free. Is this commonly done on E30's? Why or why not? You obviously would not hack up an M3 or a pristine 318is or something, this would be for a POS beater.

If this has been discussed before, please post a link. Thanks!

the M3 mounts do add negative camber. about 3/4 of a degree. Not much but its something. Added to the stock setting of about -1 degree of camber, its can make for some nice extra camber. I have the M3 ones on my car, they will be for sale soon. I have som turner fixed camber plates that I just removed yesterday that I will let go too. . . .

M3 mounts cost more than double what fixed camber plates cost. Both options are better than and cost approximately infinity times what I'm inquiring about.

Everyone says they are gonna rip through if I just redrill.

Maybe I will make a sheet metal plate to put under them and JB weld it in...it ain't gonna slip around for chrissake, it has the weight of the car on it!

With any luck your "war story" will be printed on future JBWeld packaging!

JB weld is an amazing product that most people don't give it enough credit for but is entirely unnecessary. E36 M3's have factory metal plates between the strut mount and shock tower that are just sandwiched in there. Gluing the plate to the shock tower is completely redundant because you are bolting it in there.

They wont. seen numerous ones that have flip flop for camber settings. The J stocks that came from TMS had both.
