are OEM sways supposed to be textured at the bushings?

i bit of an odd question... but i was working my swaybars, and the front swaybars have a sort of textured/pitting over the 3-4" where the bushings are. is this there on purpose for retaining lubrication or lowering noise? or is it just the result of years of corrosion?

in other words, are clean rust-free southern US bars completely smooth everywhere?

      They should be smooth.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

The pitting has nothing to do with whether they salt the roads or not. It comes from dirt and sand getting stuck between the bar and bushing and slowly wearing those marks into it.

makes sense, i guess thats why it doesnt look like typical corrosion. hmmm, this means even a clean california bar will most likely be the same.

why do you say that? mine have 25 years of use and have no pitting or wear. just felt em today after remembering this thread while under the car.

did you remove the bushings to look at the few inches where the bushes works?

not the front, but the stock rear bar is off the car and i actually did check it out. not trying to start an argument or anything, just giving my input on this strange topic.

my rear bar is fine too. it's the front bar that is pitted.
