    coilovers?

    So I just wanted to find out if coilovers are a good choice for me or should I just stick with the typical, H&R and billy sport combination. Well I heard good things about GC coils and I see the whole kit is about 1,600 dollars. But then I saw the FK kit and someone told me it's about 300 dollars. So I would be pretty much daily driving this car with some [COLOR=blue! important][COLOR=blue! important]auto[/COLOR][/COLOR]-x during the summer and whenever my friends go. I know coilovers aren't the most comfy ride but I can deal with it. And If I do go coilovers what would be best for a 91 318i?

              Bilstein Sports. GC Adjuster Sleeves. GC Camber Plates. Thats what I run and I love it. Can't really slam it but it rides/handles great. Very DDable I have 450/650 springs as well. Also, total cost of around 1,100 as opposed to the 1,600. GC customer service is also some of the best I've dealt with.

                Stephen on here is running your setup minus the GC plates and he is tucking front and rear tires with 17's and 215/40s. If he had the GC plates, we would be tucking wheel in front.

                  He cut his bump stops which gives him some more room to go low. He is by far the lowest I have seen with this setup. I have weaves right now but I will be getting some 15s this week and I will probably go down a few turns.

                    any setup can be relatively comfy, as long as the shock can tame the spring well.

                    go gc if you like, but there are other alternatives. if you are already spending 1600 on a complete gc setup, why not pony up the extra 500 and get something from ast? i think thay go for 2043 without camber plates(im not 100% on that number however)

                      Full kit for $1600 from GC, $3600 for an equivalent setup from AST. Not comparable in the least.

                        right and wrong.

                        Cutting your bumpstops does allow you to drop it further but not by much. The main reason you cut the bumpstops is to gain travel. By gaining travel youre actually getting a better ride and you have less chance of bottoming out. Just because the bumpstops are cut, doesnt mean he is automatically lower than before. He can just ADJUST lower and be more comfortable

                            Yeah, plus camber plates, plus springs... it adds up. Not comparable.
