    who makes yellow colored shocks?

after picking up my e30 ive noticed it has quite a tight suspension for 178k. upon a quick glance of my rear i noticed the PO has installed yellow shocks on the car. my natural guess would be they were replaced with bilstein HD shocks, but they cant be the only yellow colored shocks on the market. anyone know who else makes a yellow colored shock for the e30?

ill be getting up under it tomorrow after it gets back from getting the timing belt and water pump done. when i looked last night i didn't see a part # or sticker but ill take a closer look tomorrow.

assuming they're bilstein HDs, what kind of drop would i safely be able to run with them? im really not looking for a substantial drop whatsoever as thats what i have my e36 for. the e30 is basically my highway cruiser and driver so im looking for a pair to reduce a little of the wheel gap in the front, maybe a 1.5"/1.0" drop all around. what would produce this fairly closely and would i be able to run the bilsteins (assuming they are HDs at this point) on a set of springs without much drop and not risk increased wear?

you need to actually inspect the shocks for markings or whatever. bilstein shocks are yellow, koni has some yellow shocks, i'm sure other companies/ebay crap as well.

looks like they're bilsteins, but OEM bilsteins

            part # is 33521127491 (rear)

which is weird b/c they're listed for 318s and 325e, not the 325is. they definitely do not look like they've got 177k on them, maybe someone looked up the wrong part # when they replaced them?
