Koni SA damper into M3 strut... problem.

This is the problem my friend has 4 lug on his car and has now fitted M3 suspension. Of course the rear damper still works fine, but the problem is that the front damper from his old 4 lug strut no longer fits into the M3 strut. The damper itself is too big of a diameter to physically fit into the M3 strut.

Am I missing something here? I thought the late 4lug struts (6cyl) struts were the same diameter as the M3 ones.

The Koni catalog shows the inserts to be the same (8641-1210 sport)

Have you measured the tubes to make sure they are actually the same?

I can't figure out why they wouldn't fit. I haven't looked at them myself to be honest. He said they just physically didn't fit the strut tubes.

I also looked at the Koni catalogue and came to the same conclusion that the dampers are the same diameter of smaller if it's the narrower strut. Either way they should physically fit into the tube.
