    325ix vs corrado koni's

So how come people seem to prefer Corrado front struts, when IX struts are valved for an e30 and the right diameter? Just curious...

The best reason I've come up with (not from a reliable source) is that the Corrado has an internal spring that prevents the shock from extending all the way. Is that true? Is there another reason?

Doing my coilover conversion soon and am about to pull the trigger on IX front strut inserts.

Mostly because Bilstein only makes an HD for the IX. And because everyone reads what they see on the forums and do the exact same thing.

What are the differences between the two? Does the IX require you to cut the housing and ad a spacer inside the strut housing as well?

Who said anything about Bilstein's? ;) Koni makes 325ix specific front shocks.

Yeah, the Corrado and IX struts are exactly the same length, but the IX shocks are made for 51mm strut housings. So yes, spacers underneath the shocks would be used.

personally Mitch, I would go for the iX inserts if not for price then for simplicity. The corrado struts need be adapted with that expensive glad nut. So if you buy the iX konis, you will probably still be ahead of the corrado price.

Where are you going to purchase them from? Personally Im just going to run iX bilsteins in modified housing for my car. Same height as the expensive stuff it just doesnt have the dampning. And you will get the same height out of the iX bilstein as you would out of the koni for corrado ot iX.

Exactly. I don't know why people use g60 inserts at all... 325ix are the right diameter, same length, and valved for e30's.

soloperformance.com had a great sale on koni's in June, but I haven't checked current prices..

Let me know before you start modding your strut housings. I have tools to make it MUCH easier.
