    Z3 Non-M Steering Rack Swap 1991 318iS Airbag

I'm looking to do the Z3 non-M steering rack conversion, (2.7 LTL), and was looking at the Zionsville Autosport kit. The kit states that it's only for non-airbag m20 cars, but was wondering if the kit is still applicable for my car. I read up on this thread and found out that people just shimmed it some more or grinded some washers. I'm having Ryan G do the work, but just wanted to make sure before I just throw all the parts at him.

    Thanks for your help guys!

the z3 non M rack is incredible, but don't get the Zionsville kit. It's way overpriced. You can pick up a kit from AKG Motorsport (#RPKIT) for $34 and the spacers (#RPSPC) for $15. You should be able to find the steering rack at your local salvage yard, or forum. I got mine at http://car-part.com/.

I was looking for the parts on AKG but couldn't find them. I already placed my order with Zionsville. I'm not too worried about the price.

He'll be able to get the job done. With his experience the modifications needed isn't really extent. Questions, why not go for the 95 M3 rack and would a Mcoupe (z3 m) rack even fit an E30?

Z3 2.8 is the fastest rack available for our cars. 95 M3 is the least desirable.

Well fk me, I found a brand new z3 rack a few years back for pennies on the dollar...sold it thinking I'd get the M3 one some day. :(

Thanks for the info and lets this be a reminder to always double and triple check your source peeps..
