Help removing nut on the top of front strut/shock?

I'm doing the suspension on my car and can't get the nut off. I loosened the other side before I took it off and it was pretty easy to do. I didn't think to loosen this side on the car and now I'm having trouble getting it off. Any tips for getting it off?

I have the spring compressors cranked down and and the rubber gasket and end cap is spinning around when I try and turn it.

    Thanks

I just did this the other day... I had to take a pair of locking vice grips and lock it atound the shaft ofthe strut to get it to start.

You want to use an Impact Gun to remove strut nuts.
If you don't have one than make sure you protect the strut shaft w. something (from metal on metal contact) because it would be bad for the seals to have the shaft surface be anything but perfectly smooth.

The struts are really old and I'm replacing them, so I'm not to worried about it. And yea I think an Impact Gun is going to be the next tool I buy.

Thanks. I just went and bought the 89.99 (then 20% off) hurricane one from harbor freight and wow I should have gotten this earlier. It took me like 3 seconds to get the nut off. :)

Impact gun is the way to go. It makes jobs like this so much easier.
