Vibration in Front end, need ideas

So I have a 87 325es, suspension is stock (for about 5 days). Since I bought the car it has had a pretty bad shake starting at 40 and ends at 60 and then past that there is just a small shake but much more calm than the 40-60. Its at its worst around 50-55.

Its not a bent wheel or bad tires (what I originally thought)
It did it with bottlecaps with crap tires and brand new Axis OG San's with brand new tires... it did get a bit better with the new wheels but still pretty bad.

One note is that the shocks in this car are shot. They are being replaced but I dont' think it should affect how it drives only how it rides (which isn't great lol)

Car does pull a little to the right but I think after new shocks and an alignment that will go away.

What do you guys think? I find it weird that it doesn't get continuely worse which is why I'm asking for thoughts and ideas.

Oh and it does it accelerating and decelerating. Its a bit worse when slowing down but I think its partly due to rotors (already have brakes bought)

Edit: also when braking kind of hard (notice it sometimes on off ramps) when the front end shakes it kinda makes a knocking sound but I can't decide if thats because the shocks are really bad and the weight being pushed forward makes them make noise

It is the control arm bushings. Jack the car up, feel the slop in the wheel and look underneath, it should be evident.

I just replaced my suspension and got rid of the same shaking on the freeway that you describe

Control arm bushings had been recommended to me. Guess I need to see if I can locate some asap so I can put them on when I change out my suspension

It takes very little wear in the front suspension to cause speed dependent vibration. It is probably a safe bet that you need new struts & bearings , control arms & bushings, and tie rods.

I don't know those wheels. Are they hubcentric and a close sliding fit on the centering hubs? if not you may (probably will) find that even with a fresh suspension you'll not be able to eliminate vibration without having on-the-car balancing.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.
