my buddy has a set of koni coilovers from his 1992 325i. its obviously an e36 but hes letting go really cheap. will they fit on the e30? i have the 325i front subframe and the 318i rear end btw. thanks

No, they won't fit. The E30 spindle is integrated into the housing and then, generally, the front damper is an insert. The E36 spindle is a separate piece from the damper/strut assembly. For the conversion on an E30, you need the E36 spindles otherwise you'll have nothing to mount the wheel/brakes to. ; )
Now I *believe* there are some E36 dampers which are inserts but I have no idea if they're the correct size for E30 housing. And if you're talking coilovers I'm guessing the E36 parts are NOT inserts.
