Tie Rod End

So the ball joint on the end of the tie rod spins freely in its housing, making it impossible to tighten. I am guessing the tie rod needs replacing? Has anyone else experienced this?

Happens all the time. Just use another jack or something similar to push the rod end up from the bottom, then tighten.

...and yes, if it's loose, it should be replaced.
