    steering wheel shake/vibration on 325???

okay i have my 88 325 dumped on some sportmaxx xxr 522 16x8 0 offset wheels. they have been balanced and all. yet on the freeway at 60 i get a vibration that shakes my steering wheel which makes it uncomfortable to drive. idk why it shakes. all i know is my tie rod on drivers side leaks a, the drivers side strut is blown. so what could be making it vibrate? im thinking maybe since i am leaking the atf/power steering fluid and that means im losing pressure in my steering rack i could be getting it from that?

My cara did this as well. I jacked the front end up, wiggled the wheel and some things underneath and determined it to be the control arm bushings. I have replaced them (along with the rest of the suspension) and no more steering wheel shake.

Did it shake with your other wheels? If not, I'm guessing you need hub-rings.
My car vibrated @ 50 - 60 exactly before I installed my rings.

well i never drove the car first time with the stock bottle cap wheels. i did a 5 speed swap and put my sportmaxx xxr 522 wheels on it and it didn't shake. but my power steering fluid started to leak little and it had a tiny vibration but not noticeable. now that the power steering leaks more, it shake a lot. all my bushings under neath are good. the ball joints are still good looking. so im all confused.

Are these wheels hubcentric and are the centering rings a close sliding fir on the centering hubs? If they aren't you may find it impossible to have the wheels balanced off the car and not have vibration at speed. The centering rings are critically important in centering the wheel on the hub.

If they are hubcentric, the wheels could be out of balance, out of round, or bent. Worn shocks, ball joints, tie rods, bushings, or bearings will exaggerate any defect in the wheels/tires.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

well i took a good look underneath and the rubber boot on the inner tie rods are leaking the power steering fluid/atf out. and now that it leaks faster the shaking has gotten worse. im thinking maybe the inner tie rods are shot from being so low. i think the wheels are hubcentric wheels. where could i find the rings cheaply?

okay i took my wheels off and put my oem bbs basketweaves on the car and the vibration went away. i talked to sportmaxx about the xxr 522 wheels and they are hub centric wheels. so i have to buy the hub centric rings. thanks for all the help.
