    Shortening E30 Bilstein Sports

Talked to Bilstein today and they can do that no problem. So, how short is too short?

What do you guys think would be a good number, I am thinking maybe 2"-3" to have no wheel gap but still have shock travel?

I would have em do 2 inches with a short bumpstop, maybe 3 without

ak - you modify your strut housings or have GC modify them (they re-inforce them and add e30m3 sway bar mounting points and powder coat them) and have Bilstein shorten and re-valve your inserts.

How are people doing this with e30 m3 struts/sway bar bracket? Their (GC) provided sleeve reaches from the top of the sway bar mount (e30 m3) to the gland nut. So how are they repositioning the mount for a shorter tube?

            +1

3" out of the housings though and you'll be about tucking tire with the perches all the way up

I already did this myself though. We welded a tab and drilled a hole for mounting points to run e36 m3 endlinks from my 22mm sway to the housing instead of the control arm.

I would really like to know abouts the shortening and re-valving. Would they still do it if I cut a bumpstop out? ;[
              Estimated price?

why don't you want to run the short body Koni's from GC?

Koni and Bilstein are different animals.

Jean, did Bilstein give you a price to shorten the inserts? Revalving is 65 IIRC.

Ok, then what are the benefits of going through the trouble to run shortened Bilsteins over the off the shelf ground control setup?

Benefit is a shock valved properly for your application.

Brian D - not a specific price, I'll know more once I ship them my 2nd set of bilstein sports in the next few weeks. I want to give my new rates/re-valved shocks a test first at the next autox and go from there.

Interested in the pricing as well. We have our LeMons car sitting pretty high with the coilovers because of the shock travel of the Bilsteins. You can't really lower it more than a couple inches and still have any appreciable shock travel.
