    Spring dilemma

So the time has come for me to finally give in and put a more drivable[read: more forgiving] suspension. Being slammed is fun, no doubt, but living in a city that has potholes and uneven roads everywhere is like walking on nails. Plus I have only about 18months of school left and when im out of school I want to do coils and a more track-friendly build

Right now I have bilstien sports on hand (that was a no-brainer) but as for springs I was leaning towards h&r sports, h&r OE, or even just new stock springs.

    Current:

So recommend something that i can do some borderline off-roading in (aka city driving)

Trying not to spend more than ~250

also, the car is an 88 325is

Funny story actually. When I bought the car about 2 years ago I was told it was kyb shocks/struts and h&r sport springs w/15" iX weaves...but im pretty sure they are race springs. This weekend im going to actually look at them again and see if I can confirm what they are.

I picked up the H&R Sport OEs and have been happy with them. The PO had H&R Race springs and something that used to be shocks and struts but were complely blown out by the really low springs.

I don't have any pictures of the ride height handy, but the specs say that they are an inch or so lower than stock. There is space between the tires and wheel wells. The regular sports are an inch or so lower than that I think.

I went with cheap KYB shocks this time since I'm just trying to get it back on the road right now. I may upgrade to something better next year when I've gone through all the other items on my punch list.

H&R OE Sports and regular Sports are the same spring rate, the OE Sports drop about 1" and the Sports about 1.5"

H&R Race are stiffer and drop closer to 2"

So either of the Sport models will ride the same, just at different heights

Also, Eibach springs drop somewhere between H&R Sport and Race but have a spring rate nearly the same as stock

I have h&r sports and live in Milwaukee, a place with awful awful roads. I would go with OE sports. The stiffness is fine, but the ride height scares my oil pan when I drive.

Car looks excellent the way it's sitting now, I am also going about raising my car back up. I kinda grew out of the slam my cars on their nuts thing. I'd rather have a car that doesn't bump steer when I hit shitty roads.

That should give a pretty nice stance, not too low and a mostly even fender gap.

Anyone have experience with getting springs from ebay?

Thanks a ton for the input though, really appreciate the rev advice as always.

I'd get e30 m3 springs and konis if you want a supple ride with an okay stance. Billy sports ride stiff, period. Shocks have more to do with harshness than springs.
