    shaking/Vibrating

Hey guys, Just picked up an 87 325is couple of weeks ago and Just last week installed some new Potenza RE-11 tires on the car. Now the steering wheel shakes/vibrates between about 55-65 mph and sometimes at about 80 mph.

Car came with Falken ziex 512 If Im not mistaken, any suggestions? maybe a simple alignment is all I need?

Check the wheel balance. If it didnt shake prior to changing tired, well... that has to be the problem. Sometimes it takes a time or two to get it right. Go to a shop that has a Hunter dynamic balancer.

Been real busy haven't had a chance to look into this much as the vibrating is minor anyways, Ive felt worse on new cars with warped brakes or bad alignment.

I was under the car the other day and noticed the rubber wishbone mount was cracking and a small piece had fallen off of both sides, possible cause of vibration?

Id like your opinions on this, I definetely need to replace them so what would be better and why, oem ruber or urethane?

first thing to look at would be the control arm bushings, which some could call the wishbone mount. i replaced mine and now have no shimmy from 50-65....get a bearing puller and check out this tech article on how to make the tool to press them on:

              good luck...it isnt that bad

oh and i bought some urethane rear shock mounts...have had them for at least 6 years and no problems yet whereas the stock e30 rubber mounts went out after a year everytime. so i would say urethane especially if you plan any spirited driving/auto-xing, racing, but if its a daily, bavauto sells prepressed mounts for decent price.

oh and you may want to check you sway bar links and all the nuts on the sway bar. there are two 17's which bolt it to the swaybar link, and then the 13 mm for the link-wishbone.
