    Getting tierods off...

    I've gotten the boots off the tierods, so I can see the lock tab.

    However, what's the best way to go about bending the bent tabs back? I tried a small screw driver - no go. I mean - nothing's working here. I need suggestions!

    Thanks!

    You need a mallet and a drift pin, is what you need.

      I used a chisel. I basically just kept hammering. It cut the shit out of the old tie-rod with it... but it was coming out anyhow.

          well, I'm not having any major luck...here's where I am now:

          I seem to be cutting into the tierod rather than bending the tab back.

          Also, say I get the bottom one bent back - how on earth do I bend the top one back?

          This is something I've having a real hard time with.

          I would like to just set it aside and not do it, but I've already messed up the ball joint on this thing, so I NEED new ones now... :-\

          let me know! :)

            Ok, I just kept at it, and eventually it bent outwards.

            So, i got the driver's side bent out. But, what size wrench is this thing suppose to accept to be able to unscrew it?

            My vice grip grabs onto the lock tab, and my pipewrench is too thick, and hits the lock tab too. It's bigger than a 24 mm wrench, I think, comparing my pipewrench to a 24 mm socket.

            Anyone know?

            Thanks! :)
