    suspension set up

I know there is a thread here for suspension. But I haven't done anything with mine yet. I have factory spring and shocks up front and factory springs with Billy HD's rear. I don't like the huge front wheel clearance and would like to lower this. I would also like to stifn up the front ride a bit.

Since I put the HD's in the back it responds better in the rear. I have seen people install drop hats to lower the clearance without having to change the spring.
Could someone provide some guidance without going radical. I really like the factory ride from my 325IS and wanted to duplicate this for my vert.

So thinking: drop hats up front with HD's? would this work with the factory springs well?

    input is greatly appreciated.

    Thx.

if you go with a pair of eibach pro springs it drops the car about 1.5 inches and not to much ride comfortability is lost.

Eibach pros with the stock shocks?

I think I am going to go with coil overs. I figured for the 380.00 group buy that has been floating around I can't go wrong. It will lower the car and allow me to adjust the ride height and dampening issue. Since I am not planning on driving my car hard I think it will be a nice balanced ride.

I'm weary of the quality of those group-buy coilovers.

The drophats will only lower you MAYBE a half inch.

If I were you, I would pair some Bilstein Touring struts/shocks with M3 springs. You'll get a slightly lower and slightly stiffer ride w/o compromising ride quality.

If you saw the gap between my front tires and fender you would probably skip on the M3 springs. I have over 2 inches. I would like to drop the front to be equal to the rear - about 1 inch between tires and fender. I can live with that. Difficult to swing that set up without coil overs don't you think??

I was against dropping, but I went with hr sports...then I still wanted more. Ended up running drop hats as well. If you want stock ride height with some better handling, consider m3 tabs and links...made a world of difference.

Maybe the Eibach Pro Kit would work best. It's difficult to go low without really stiffening your ride.

Good call. They are barely stiffer than stock.

But you'll be bouncing off your bump stops all the time. Low and soft is a bad idea.

Bilstein HDs have the same valving as Bilstein Sports. With H&R Sports, you'll want to pair them with the Bilstein Sports. If you go the H&R OE Sports, then I'd match them with the Bilstein HDs.

Harshness is a very subjective term. I have H&R Sports with Bilstein Sports and it's not what I would call an excessively comfortable ride. I do prefer the "solid" and "sporty" feel though.

You mentioned before that you preferred the stock ride... I think you're barking up the wrong tree.

If I'm interpreting your preference correctly, I'd go with the Eibach Pro Kit with Koni Sport Adjustables on full soft.

What would the cost be for such a set up? would this give me enough adjustment to set my preferred ride comfort?

                            thanks for your guidance.

I'm not sure on the cost. The Konis are a little bit more than the Bilsteins. The adjustable dampers will give you some control of the ride quality.
