    binding?

so i made my own DIY coilovers using the corrado g60 shocks (8641-1108sport i think thepart number is) and it turned out amazing!

just one issue; it feels like my camber plates are binding where the eye joint is.

whenever i turn one direction from a stop sign and accelerate, it pulls to that side. and same with the other way, i turn the opposite way and then drive a little and it pulls to that side. could it be my steering rack? :???:

    help would be appreciated, thanks

    Are your camber plates "used"?

Could it also be that my toe alignment in the front could be nasty out since it's slammed now? I tried adjusting it but I'm not sure if it changed much. I don't want to pay for an alingment just yet cuz I might get some parts for that first (adjustable toe and camber parts for front and rear and maybe wider lca from another 3 series for a wider track up front).

Cuz now that I think of it, could it be like it's suspended in bump-steer? So the toe's pointed out?

your springs might be binding. springs take a little while to seat. put a few hundred miles on the setup then assess later

they're GC coilover conversions btw 440f and 650r

even though if they do need time to sit, should they bind that much?

so i'm going to an NTB for them to try to diagnose. if i get an alignment i need settings. i want them set up for drifting so i know i need toe in on the front and out in the rear. i've tried searching but i'm getting lots of different numbers and i know it depends heavily on how the driver likes em too, but if anyone has setting specifically for drifting, that'd be great if you shared!

So I went to ntb and said that it's my bearings and lca's along with the lca bushings that need to be changed. How do you adjust camber and toe in the rear??

Without eccentric trailing arm bushings or weld-in camber/toe plates the rear suspension has no adjustments.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

The problem is that the Cosmo camber plates are not a complete camber plate. They are just a plate with a swivel bearing in the middle. The Cosmo plates cost less because they do not include any of the additional bearings to accommodate a car that will be "steered" which are commonly included with American camber/caster plate KITS.

In other words, when you steer an e30, the spring turns on a set of bearings. When you steer an e30 with Cosmo camber plates, there is no bearing to steer on, and the parts just skid around in a circle and stick wherever you stop steering.

As far as I know, the only solution is to pay a machine shop to make you custom parts with bearings, because the steering bearings that are included in other complete camber plate kits cannot be used with Cosmo parts.

Oh gotcha. Ugh ok then, I know ground control makes great plates but I don't want to pay $300 for em. Any suggestions on what plates I should get without having to spend an arm and/or a leg?

Hellabad u were right! Put back my old tops and steering is great! And plus the camber is pretty good as it sits now so I prolly didn't even need plates to begin with
