E36 M3 springs on E30?

Sorry if this is a newb question, but I just spent the last half hour searching for an answer without any luck.....

I'm looking at upgrade options for springs/struts on my '91 318i. I'd love to pick up a set of H&R sports with billy sports but right now I don't have that kind of $$$ to spend. A friend of mine has an E36 M3 which he upgraded the springs....and he has his stock springs available. I was considering going with some bilstein tourings with these M3 springs if it would work and drop the car around 1"....or at least come close to leveling out the front end with the back. Will the E36 M3 springs work on my E30? Anyone know what kind of drop to expect with these springs and a stock replacement strut like the billy tourings? Thanks in advance...

I did some more searching and found that the springs will work but the amount of drop and handling characteristics are not certain. I guess I'll save up for the H&R kit with bilstein sports....

They WILL work, you just need to use your E30 strut mount. The only problem I could see is that those springs were designed for a much heavier car so it won't drop the E30 much but the spring rate will be much higher than the stock 318i springs.
